Dylan the Spaceman - Megadrive and Amiga Update Jan 2026


Work Started on New Dylan the Spaceman for Amiga and Megadrive

The original Dylan the Spaceman was created using the Reality Game Creator for the Commodore Amiga which was a clunky if you wanted to make large scale Dizzy clone games.  It also used a system of flags to control actions and objects and these flags were numbers rather than word variables so if you didn't keep a paper record of what all the numbers related to it soon became confusing especially if you took a break in  making the game,   For this reason I was never going to go back and finish the game using Reality however over the past months I have been learning how to use the Scorpion Engine to make a few game demos for the Amiga and the Megadrive and have started to experiment with creating some code for an updated version of Dylan the Spaceman.  Its early days so far but I have managed to do the following:

  • Import the sprites for the main character Dylan the Spaceman
  • Import some graphic tiles
  • Create a menu system for picking up and dropping items
  • Created a hud system for dialogue

Below are some early screenshots of the Scorpion Version of Dylan the Spaceman.  The screenshots are taken from the Megadrive / Genesis version
